At Heart Savers, LLC we offer certifications from the Kentucky Board of EMS in EMT Basic and Advanced level. These certifications will help you open the door to a rewarding career in the emergency services field. Other classes we offer are certifications through the American Heart Association. Those courses include Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), BLS Healthcare Provider, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS),Heartsaver CPR/First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Stop the Bleed. Heart Savers, LLC is a multi-faceted organization offering services in three distinct areas: training, staffing, and consulting. Each division operates under the Heart Savers, LLC brand but maintains unique functions, policies, and procedures as appropriate to the scope of service provided. Heart Savers, LLC is a Limited Liability Company organized under the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. As an LLC, Heart Savers, LLC is recognized as a legally separate entity from its owners.
We do not accept or participate any federal or state funding for our KBEMS TEI courses or any other courses offered.
All instructors affiliated with Heart Savers, LLC operate as adjunct instructors and are not employeesof Heart Savers, LLC. These instructors solely align with Heart Savers, LLC for the purposes of serving as American Heart Association (AHA) instructors through our recognized AHA Training Site. Their professional opinions, instruction styles, and actions are their own and do not necessarily reflect the views or policies of Heart Savers, LLC or the American Heart Association. Heart Savers, LLC does not provide invoicing or payment collection services on behalf of adjunct instructors. All pricing for services rendered as well as the responsibility for invoicing and receiving payment, lies solely with the individual adjunct instructor. Adjunct instructors operate as independent contractors and are responsible for managing their own financial transactions and records related to any services they provide. All adjunct instructors affiliated with Heart Savers, LLC are required to strictly abide by all rules, regulations, and guidelines set forth by the American Heart Association (AHA). This includes, but is not limited to, instructional standards, course delivery protocols, documentation procedures, and certification requirements. Failure to comply with AHA policies may result in termination of affiliation with Heart Savers, LLC and possible revocation of AHA instructor status.
All Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), Advanced EMTs (AEMTs), and Paramedics provided through the Heart Savers, LLC staffing division are independent contractors. They are not employees of Heart Savers, LLC nor of any facility, agency, or organization for which Heart Savers, LLC provides staffing services. Heart Savers, LLC provides emergency medical staffing services in accordance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations established by the Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services (KBEMS). Heart Savers, LLC is committed to ensuring that all staffing operations meet or exceed the staffing requirements, response time standards, and training and certification requirements outlined by KBEMS for each level of care provided, including Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced EMT (AEMT), and Paramedic services.
All individuals who provide services through Heart Savers, LLC as independent contractors must complete certain required training prior to becoming eligible for assignments.
These training requirements are designed to ensure that all contractors:
• Meet the minimum standards of competency for the level of care or service being provided,
• Are compliant with applicable local, state, and federal regulations,
• Understand the policies, procedures, and expectations of Heart Savers, LLC and its client agencies.
Required training may include, but is not limited to:
• Clinical protocols and documentation procedures
• Safety and infection control standards
• HIPAA, patient confidentiality, and professional conduct
• Assignment-specific orientation or site requirements
No contractor will be permitted to begin any assignment until all required training has been completed and verified.
Completion of training does not create an employee-employer relationship and is a condition of eligibility for contracting opportunities only. All training requirements will be clearly communicated in advance and by accepting shift assignments the individual agree to the training terms. Individuals may refuse to complete training at their own leisure but assignments may not be granted.
Each independent contractor is responsible for maintaining their own licensure, certifications, and compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Independent contractors with Heart Savers, LLC are responsible for their own expenses, are 10-99 contractors and as such responsible for any and all tax requirements, and insurance.
Contractors who accept assignments through Heart Savers, LLC may be required to maintain a professional appearance or wear identifying apparel (e.g., EMS pants, branded polo, shirt, or ID badge) while performing services at certain client locations. No certain footwear, headwear, or outwear will be required and any may be worn at the discretion of the independent contractor. These requirements are intended to ensure professionalism and brand consistency and are agreed upon as part of the terms of service.
Heart Savers, LLC may offer available shift assignments to independent contractors on an as-needed basis. Contractors have the right to accept or decline any offered shift and are under no obligation to accept a minimum number of assignments. Shift acceptance is voluntary and based on mutual agreement.” Shift acceptance scheduling will be posted on a monthly basis and if the independent contractor cannot full-fill the shifts mutual agreed upon they need to give notice to the contractor immediately. No set number of available shifts will be guaranteed and are at the discretion of Heart Savers, LLC and as such services may be discontinued at anytime.
Due to requirements of “response times” set forth by the Kentucky Emergency Services independent contractors may have to stay at certain location for the duration of their agreed upon assignments if response times cannot be fulfilled by staying at another location. They agree to provide onsite staffing Monday-Friday from 8am to 4pm and additional timing as needed for mutual agreed upon assignments. As part of the assignments, the contractor agrees to provide ALS/BLS patient care, emergent and non emergent patient transports, complete electronic patient care reports, follow requirements set forth by the Kentucky Board of EMS, maintain EMS base cleanliness, and maintain vehicle readiness.
Heart Savers, LLC assumes no responsibility for the actions or omissions of these independent contractors. As such, they retain the right to offer their professional services to other companies, agencies, or organizations, including those operating in similar fields such as EMS staffing, training, or healthcare consulting. Heart Savers, LLC does not impose exclusivity on its independent contractors. These professionals are free to accept assignments, engage in business, or enter into contracts with other entities, provided that doing so does not violate any separate agreements they may have entered into and does not result in a conflict of interest related to their work with Heart Savers, LLC.
All individuals providing services for or on behalf of Heart Savers, LLC do so as independent contractors, not employees. As such, they are not eligible for unemployment insurance benefitsthrough Heart Savers, LLC. Independent contractors are considered self-employed under state and federal law and are therefore responsible for managing their own tax obligations and insurance coverage, including any private unemployment protection they may choose to obtain.
Heart Savers, LLC does not pay unemployment insurance taxes on behalf of independent contractors, nor does it participate in the state unemployment insurance system for individuals contracted to provide services.
By accepting assignments through Heart Savers, LLC, each contractor acknowledges and agrees to the following: they are not entitled to unemployment benefits from Heart Savers, LLC or any client site they serve. They are responsible for understanding their own rights and responsibilities as self-employed individuals under applicable laws.
Certain assignments offered through Heart Savers, LLC may include access to workers’ compensation and/or professional liability coverage, as required by the facility or agency being served. When provided, this coverage is intended solely to meet contractual or legal requirements and is not to be interpreted as an employee benefit.
All individuals providing services through Heart Savers, LLC do so as independent contractors, not employees. The availability of coverage on certain assignments: Does not establish an employer-employee relationship between the contractor and Heart Savers, LLC or any client agency. Does not entitle the contractor to any additional employee-style benefits, including health insurance, paid leave, unemployment insurance, or retirement contributions. Is limited to the scope and terms of the specific assignment and is not guaranteed for all engagements.
Contractors are responsible for maintaining any additional personal or professional insurance coverage they deem necessary. Heart Savers, LLC recommends that all contractors carry their own professional liability insurance unless expressly provided for a particular assignment.
Use of any Heart Savers, LLC service, adjunct instructing, or providing independent contractor services does not create an employer-employee relationship. No part of any agreement or arrangement with Heart Savers, LLC shall be construed to create an employer-employee relationship, partnership, or joint venture. The designation of independent contractor is intentional and defines the nature of all professional relationships with Heart Savers, LLC as they “service” and the independent contractor as the “provider.”
Heart Savers, LLC is committed to maintaining clear and transparent relationships with all independent contractors and clients. Prior to any mutually agreed upon assignment or training engagements all terms and conditions governing the independent contractor relationship and client relationship will be fully discussed.
By engaging, instructing, or providing independent contractor services with Heart Savers, LLC in any capacity, you acknowledge, understand, and accept these terms. If a client or independent contractor does not accept all terms listed or discussed they need to advise Heart Savers, LLC immediately. While we strive to ensure the accuracy and relevance of the content in our disclaimers, Heart Savers, LLC reserves the right to update, amend, or revise them at any time as needed to reflect changes in law, policy, or operational practices.
